More than 20 new kitchen, bath and building boutiques opened their doors to the public this week
Approximately 5,000 guests from the Chicago metro area, across the country and around the world were the first to walk through more than 20 boutiques encompassing the 90,000 square feet of LuxeHome on The Merchandise Mart’s first floor.
The world’s largest collection of luxury boutiques for home building and renovation opened its doors Thursday night with live music, hors d’oeuvres and libations to celebrate the finest kitchen and bath exhibits. Architectural Digest magazine co-sponsored the grand opening celebration with Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (MMPI).
The exterior of The Mart was aglow in blue in honor of the opening as guests viewed the largest array of high-performance, high-style kitchen, bath and building products, many of which are being seen for the first time at LuxeHome. The products on display spanned numerous home building categories including: cabinetry, countertops, flooring, kitchen systems, hardware, appliances, bath accessories, doors, marble, stone, granite and tile. A variety of world-class performers including dancers, live piano and guitar music, and the Emerald Society of Bagpipes provided entertainment throughout the night.
The grand opening marked the first day the new boutiques made their products available to the public, affluent homeowners and design professionals, who can now shop side by side. With retail hours Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., LuxeHome is designed to be a user-friendly shopping environment, equipped with design experts for those homeowners shopping without a designer.
The LuxeHome boutiques spared no expense in time or resources to create the spectacular displays we all saw for the first time that evening, said Kate Flaherty, vice president, building products and special projects, MMPI. We were awed by the response to the grand opening event and feel it’s a good indicator of how successful these boutiques will be. The time is definitely right for a resource like this.
